Carles Pamies holds a PhD in Political Science from the Autonomous University of Madrid (UAM). He is currently a researcher at the Institute of Public Goods and Policies (IPP-CSIC). He is also a visiting lecturer (enseignant vacataire) at Sciences Po Paris, where he was previously a researcher in the ActEU project. He has held research positions at UNED, the UAM, and the University of Liège, and has been a visiting researcher at the Centre on Migration, Policy and Society (COMPAS) at the University of Oxford and at the Centre d'études européennes et de politique comparée of the Paris Institute of Political Studies (Sciences Po). He is involved in various national and international research groups and projects, and has worked as a predoctoral researcher in projects funded by the Spanish National Plan (APREPINM, CONSENSO) and Horizon Europe (MobilEU, REPCHANCE).
His research interests include political parties and their elites, consensus-building in the legislative process, and both political behavior and the representation of people of foreign origin. He has published on the electoral behavior and political representation of Latin Americans (in American Behavioral Scientist and Politics and Governance), on diaspora voting (European Political Science), on the Spanish party system (Revista Internacional de Sociología), on candidate selection (in Revista de Investigaciones Sociológicas and the Journal of Contemporary and European Studies), and on transition elites (Democratization). His research findings have also been disseminated through various media outlets.
